We spotted this young moose with it's mother in the passage between Big and Little Crow Lakes
This year a record 23 people in three crews participated. Each crew took a different route through the 3000 square mile park of about 40 to 50 miles of paddling and portaging.
Mounting such a trip involves a sea of details. Perhaps the most complex bit of planning was purchasing and packing 414 servings of food required for six days of travel. Fortunately we were successful and all three crews reported that they enjoyed the food they chose.
One of our 'secret weapons' is tomato powder. We've found that adding a bit of tomato powder transforms otherwise lackluster dishes into a very tasty meal. Harmony House sells tomato powder in quantities from 6 ounces to 30(!) pounds. A pound goes a long way and is well worth having on hand for the camp cook.
Welcome back! I like using Tabasco sauce on dishes. We just completed our troop's first Philmont Trek and the rain was quite a challenge. Any resources on camping/hiking in the rain?

Oh, BTW, we used your Philmont rainshelter design on the trek.
