Cycle of Revenge

Will the death of our enemies bring us peace?

Bombs and knives do not kill ideas, only idealists. When the world trade centers fell the ideas that built them did not die. When we revenged ourselves on the perpetrators their ideas did not die. In both cases the ideas flourished fueled by the blood of the idealists. A self perpetuating cycle of revenge ensues until those who support its perpetuation are sufficently sickened by the cost.

Perhaps if we invested as much blood and treasure into the peaceful
alternatives to revenge as we do to prosecuting revenge we could make
revenge itself a thing of the past. Our enimies do not simply "hate our
freedoms" they, like us, are caught in the devilish cycle of revenge
and there seems to be no honorable way out.
